Hey art lover!

Here are some coffee table books that will make your heart skip a beat.

favorite coffee table books about artists

First is a masterpiece: "Matisse in the Barnes" by Karen Butler. This set of three massive books takes you on a journey through Matisse's works as displayed in the Barnes Foundation, a renowned art collection in Philadelphia. This is definitely an investment set. Sometimes you can find this set on sale at the Barnes Foundation. I like to take them out and display them without the case.

Next up: "Van Gogh: Complete Works" by Rainer Metzger, an exhaustive collection of Van Gogh's works: from the iconic "Starry Night" to the enchanting "Sunflowers," you'll find yourself lost in the strokes. While I love keeping this one at home, sometimes I steal it and put it near the easel.

Then my absolute favorite: "Joan Mitchell" by Sarah Roberts. It’s GORGEOUS! This work beautifully communicates the raw energy and emotional depth that Mitchell infused into her paintings.

Last but certainly not least is "Henri Matisse: The Cut-Outs" by Karl Buchberg. Matisse, a pioneer of modern art, took a unique approach in his later years by creating vibrant collages from cut-out paper. From the playful "Blue Nude" on the cover to the whimsical "The Snail," this collection is a visual feast.

Honorable mentions: these are not really art related but I love them and they are BEAUTIFUL:

1. "Chanel and Her World" by Edmonde Charles-Roux - This beautiful book paints a vivid portrait of Coco Chanel from her humble beginnings to her rise as a legendary fashion icon. Explore the opulence of Chanel's world, her impeccable sense of style, and her lasting impact on the fashion industry. I love all the black and white photos!

2. "A Place to Call Home: Timeless Southern Charm” by James Farmer - Enter the world of southern interior design with James Farmer as he invites readers to discover the art of creating inviting spaces that reflect personal style, heritage, and a love for traditional design.

3. "One Man's Folly: The Exceptional Houses of Furlow Gatewood" by Julia Reed - This one centers on the late Furlow Gatewood, designer and collector and his transformation of abandoned buildings on his family property in rural Georgia. Furlow was a dear friend of designer Bunny Williams and her husband.

So there you have it, friend – a delightful lineup of coffee table books that will enrich your home or office. These books are sure to make your coffee table a bit more beautiful! (And they make fantastic gifts!!)
